- PERSONALIZED, COMPASSIONATE, AND CARING -
Talk Therapy or Psychotherapy
Individual psychotherapy refers to one-on-one mental health treatment that is personalized to suit an individual’s unique needs. It involves setting therapeutic goals, processes one’s past, and learning how to manage one’s symptoms or triggers in order to live a healthier life.
-
According to the American Psychological Association (APA), there are five main categories of individual psychotherapy approaches: Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive therapy, Behavior therapy, Humanistic therapy, Integrative or holistic therapy
Sometimes a therapist uses a modality that falls directly in one category or another, but these days, it’s more often the case that therapists draw from multiple modalities to customize their approach to each unique client. They may also care more about the therapy process itself than the theories that guide it. This is called process-based care.
Neurofeedback & Biofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive therapeutic modality that utilizes real-time monitoring of brainwave activity to train the brain toward optimal functioning. By providing individuals with immediate feedback on their brainwave patterns, neurofeedback enables them to learn how to self-regulate and optimize their cognitive and emotional states.
-
This process involves sessions where clients engage in activities designed to modify their brainwave activity, promoting positive changes in attention, focus, relaxation, and emotional regulation. Through this personalized training approach, neurofeedback empowers individuals to harness their brain's natural plasticity, leading to improved mental well-being and enhanced overall performance. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), or talk therapy, is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals develop coping skills, regulate emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships. At its core, DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, emphasizing acceptance and change simultaneously.
-
By learning practical skills such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness, clients can gain greater control over their emotions and behaviors, leading to improved self-esteem and a higher quality of life. DBT fosters resilience, empowers individuals to navigate life's challenges more effectively, and promotes lasting emotional well-being.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy treatment that works towards positive life change by investigating the relationship between a person’s cognitions (thoughts), behaviors (actions), and emotions and then working to break harmful patterns. CBT teaches children, adolescents, and adults to identify and modify dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs that contribute to behavior and emotional problems.
-
For example, a person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may have the dysfunctional belief that “I am stupid” or “I am a failure and I will never succeed in life.” Cognitive Behavioral Therapy would teach the individual with ADHD to change the irrational thought that causes depression and feelings of hopelessness from “I am stupid and a failure” to “I have many strengths and positive qualities.” This change in thinking and beliefs opens the individual to more possibilities and more realistic thoughts and positive feelings that will result in increased self-confidence and self-esteem.
Social Skills Training
Social Skills Training is a program for children, adolescents, or adults who have difficulty relating to others. We utilize a cognitive behavioral and psychoeducational approach to teach individuals with such disorders as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Social Anxiety to enhance social and communication skills.
-
By teaching social skills to increase awareness of social norms and cues, role-playing, and direct practice, individuals learn to improve positive social interaction that can be transferred to real-life situations.
Infant Sleep Consultations
Gentle, developmentally appropriate sleep support for families with babies from newborn through 24 months, led by Carly DeFelice, Licensed Behavior Specialist and Infant Sleep Consultant.
Sleep struggles are common in infancy, and when a baby isn't sleeping, the whole family feels it. A consultation may help if you're facing frequent night wakings, bedtime or nap battles, short or unpredictable naps, early-morning wake-ups, or sleep-related stress and exhaustion.
-
Choose a one-time consultation, or an ongoing support package that includes:
An initial consultation and a customized sleep plan built around your child and family
A follow-up session to review and adjust
Four 30-minute telehealth check-ins for troubleshooting and reassurance as you implement changes
Sessions are educational and supportive - focused on routines and responsive strategies that fit your family's values. This service is not psychotherapy and does not replace medical or mental health treatment. Available in person or via telehealth, on a private-pay basis.
